Jacques Greene – What U R / I Like U / Motivation

It’ll come as no surprise to regular readers of this blog that we’re posting about Jacques Greene, probably our favourite talent of this year and also the purveyor of a soon-to-be-released highly limited 12″ comprising three of his own genius R&B re-edits. Greene has a knack for bringing unadulterated sexiness to his productions, letting silky vocals, lush synth work and smooth house flavours combine in a way that slightly compels us to whack off furiously whilst grinding against a wall.
Following on from the Ciara sampling “Another Girl”, ”What U R” reworks Amerie‘s “That’s What U R” into a squelchy acid-infused house number that sounds like a remix from 1991 that has somehow leapt twenty years into the future. ”Motivation” meanwhile is Jacques’ take on Kelly Rowland‘s single of the same name that we posted back in March. It’s much more upbeat than the original yet much less bassy than Diplo‘s take on the track – the result being something that’s more musically accomplished and more arousing than either. Unfortunately, we can’t tell you what “I Like U” sounds like as it’s not featured in the preview video, but to remedy that problem we’d recommend heading over to Boomkat to order your copy which ships in two days time.
For reasons we cannot fathom in 2011, embedding of the trailer for the EP has been disabled. So grab a pack of tissues, head over to Youtube and get a feel of some of the most titillating R&B remixes you’re likely to hear this side of Ginuwine’s crotch. Smooooooth.
